2012
The Travelling Smart 2011 in 2011 Project is now completed and we are in the process of updating our website.
In June 2010, Better HARTS received funding from the Conservation Council of South Australia to run a regional, community based activity that encourages 2011 residents in the Limestone Coast to cut their CO2 emissions by 1000 kilograms (or one tonne) each during 2011.
The results were measured by logging into the Better HARTS web site and the Activity Centre and recording individual CO2 savings in various activities that involve travel and include walking, cycling, using public transport, car - pooling, driving more efficiently and driving 'greener' cars.
The activity centre will provide information and strategies that show participants how to make savings in CO2 emissions in the way they travel.

Results.
Over 53 people registered on our website.
20 of these actively participated in the project by keeping a monthly record of their active transport kilometers.
Their was an overall saving of 8600kg of CO2. An average of 430kg of CO2 saved per person who actively participated.
The highest savings were made by those on our Better HARTS Board - well done Board members!
While the project has ended for 2011, the Activity Centre is still up and running for those of you who wish to continue to enter your active transport kilometers.
